Join Tatra Photography for the ultimate tour of a lifetime in Patagonia. Patagonia is dominated by the Andes, the longest mountain range on earth running the length of South America from Colombia to the Strait of Magellan and across to Tierra del Fuego. Patagonia covers about one third of the land area of both Chile and Argentina.
Our two centre tour will start in the Los Glaciares national park which is famous for Mount Fitz Roy and the jagged Cerro Torre peaks. We will visit all the iconic locations in this region to capture the classic mountain landscape shots. We will also capture the nearby glaciers for stunning views of compressed blue glacial ice and photograph several beautiful waterfalls.
Our second base is the stunning Torres del Paines national park of Chile, home to the famous Horns and Towers of Paine, jagged mountain peaks with distinctive shapes. While in Paine we’ll also get chance to photograph vast herds of wild guanacos, austral flamingos and other charismatic Patagonian wildlife.
All levels are catered for so whether you are new to photography, an enthusiast or a seasoned pro we provide a fun packed tour with a masterclass in landscape techniques from our professional photographers Adam Burton & Richard Bernabe.
While on location you will receive dedicated one-to-one tuition to help hone your landscape photography skills. Adam & Richard will offer guidance on both the technical and creative aspects of landscape photography and always be at hand to provide feedback on your photographs. At each location we visit our tutors will make suggestions and offer advice on how to create wow factor images.
Physical requirements
While most shooting locations can be reached by road we will do some hiking on this workshop. Hikes will typically be easy to moderate in difficulty and will be less than a mile one way. A few hikes may involve some moderate elevation gain and require travel over rocky terrain. A reasonable physical fitness will certainly facilitate your enjoyment of this workshop. Note: we are NOT at high elevation at any time during this workshop.
Your tutors for this workshop are Adam Burton & Richard Bernabe. Adam is one of the UK’s leading landscape photographers and author of four books. Since 2008 he has been working as a full time professional landscape photographer, regularly supplying imagery and undertaking commissions for a wide range of business clients.
He has photographed five of the seven continents and now specialises in the landscapes of the UK, particularly Southwest England.
Photographic background
Adam first began teaching himself photography in 2001, mainly from reading magazines and then putting into practice techniques while on location either in the New Forest or along the Dorset coastline. This informal training enabled Adam to develop a unique style that continue to make his photographs instantly recognisable and highly in demand. His knowledge is entirely self taught; he has never received any formal photographic training.
Professional career
Ever since Adam first began taking photography seriously, his images have been in demand commercially. Since 2004 his images have been published regularly in national newspapers and magazines, as well as in books, greeting cards and calendars. Over this time he has worked for many large and prestigious organisations, supplying imagery and undertaking commissions for companies including British Petroleum, The AA, The Times and National Geographic.
Adam has authored four books published by leading UK publishing houses. He is currently working on a fifth title to be published in 2012.
Richard Bernabe is our guest tutor and an internationally renowned nature, wildlife, and travel photographer as well as widely-published author from the United States. His passion for adventure has been the driving force behind his life’s quest to capture the moods and character of the world’s most amazing places, from Africa to the Amazon to the Arctic and countless places in between.
His editorial clients include National Geographic, The New York Times, Time, Audubon, The BBC, The World Wildlife Fund, National Parks, Outdoor Photographer, and many others. Corporate clients include Canon, Patagonia, Orvis, REI, Apple, Microsoft & American Express.
Richard is a highly sought-after teacher and public speaker who accepts many invitations from around the world each year in order to help educate others on matters of photography, adventure travel, and our natural world.
