Join Tatra Photography for one of the most unique Aurora photography tours you will ever experience with our new travelling hotel based at the world famous Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. You will now be able to open your hotel room door to the Vatnajokull glacier, crackling of the ice in the lagoon and the gentle sound of the waves on the black beach.
The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are discharged particles from the sun that pass through the magnetic shield of earth and create light when they mix with atoms and molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen gases on entering into the earth’s atmosphere. These particles travel through space towards planet earth being drawn towards the earth’s magnetic north and south polar regions. During periods of strong solar flares the light becomes extremely dynamic producing swirls and flash patterns throughout the sky. The colours merge and flash from greens, reds, yellows and violets.
The sight is awe inspiring. The Aurora Borealis is one of the most incredible natural phenomenon’s you will ever witness and we will be with you every step of the way to capture it all.
On this Northern Lights Iceland special you will receive a masterclass in Aurora photography and all the techniques required from our professional photographer. Each photographer will receive dedicated tuition to capture the Northern Lights and the Icelandic landscape.
We also encourage participants to bring a selection of their work for a review and critique, where our professional tutor will discuss the art of landscape photography composition, how to use the camera to create wow-factor images and how to approach landscape photography with the eye of a pro.
Our daily transport for the tour is a specially modified super jeep capable of withstanding the Icelandic weather and terrain to get us in location for the Aurora photography at the right time. Our vehicle can take us anywhere in Iceland so we can access locations normally inaccessible to other photography tours. Our locations during this tour will of course be the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and black Ice beach, we also have two other glacier lagoons within a few minutes drive. Other locations included are Vestrahorn, Eystrahorn and the east fjords.
No other photography tour can offer an Aurora experience like Tatra Photography’s hotel at the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon.
