Nick Jenkins is one of our great British landscape photographers and is an Associate of both the Royal Photographic Society and the Welsh Photographic Federation.
Nick has been a passionate landscape photographer for over 20 years and, following a buyout of the company for whom he worked, decided to form his own photography business, Freespirit Images, in 2002. Since then he has written several photography related books and his work has appeared all round the world in calendars, books and magazines.
Although based in south Wales, Nick runs his own workshops all round the UK, including the Isles of Scilly, Dartmoor, the Yorkshire Dales, the Northumberland Coast, Pembrokeshire and Mid Wales. Since joining Tatra Photography he has also led workshops in the Tatra mountains Slovakia, Iceland and Croatia. He will also be leading the Tatra Photography Cityscape workshops.
Photographing landscapes well is not an easy skill to acquire but Nick sets out to demonstrate the disciplines of both the ‘seeing eye’ and the ability to make rather than take a photograph. His relaxed and easy going style (together with his dubious sense of humour) have helped many aspiring landscape photographers to both seek out and achieve their goals.
Nick sets himself three key objectives before every workshop:
1. Clients have enjoyed themselves
2. They have improved their knowledge of photographing the landscape
3. They have returned home with photographs they are both pleased with and proud of.
